Collection: Pet Nat Wines

Pet Nat wine is a type of natural wine that’s made by bottling the juice before it has finished fermenting. The result of this is a slightly sparkling wine that has a higher level of sweetness than dry wines, meaning that it’s the ideal beverage for those with a sweet tooth. Pet Nat wines are typically made from white or rosé grapes and are produced in small batches.

At Doom Juice Wine, our Pet Nat wine is a delicious example of this style of wine. It’s made from 100% organic grapes and is naturally sparkling. This means that our wines have a light, refreshing flavour with just a touch of sweetness. Our Pet Nats pair well with cheese, fruit, and light appetizers, so why not serve it at your next dinner party and impress all your friends?

How is Pet Nat wine created?

Petnap wine is made by leaving the wine in contact with the yeast for an extended period, which allows for a second fermentation. The wine is bottled before all the sugar has been converted to alcohol, so some carbon dioxide is trapped in the bottle. This gives the wine its natural carbonation.

The style was first developed in France's Loire Valley, and gets its name from the phrase "vin de natur" or "wine of nature." Pet Nat wines are typically light and bubbly, with a characteristic yeasty flavour. They can be consumed young, but also have the potential to age well.

Today, Pet Nat wines are gaining popularity all over the world. At Doom Juice Wine, our winemakers have adopted this traditional style and perfected it to make some of the best Pet Nat wines in the country. How long does it take to create Pet Nat wine?

It can take up to six months to create a batch of Pet Nat wine. The process begins by harvesting the grapes and then crushing them. Next, the juice is allowed to ferment for two weeks before it's transferred to bottles. In some cases, the bottles are then sealed with a cork and left to age for four to six months so that the wine develops carbonation and flavour. Though in other cases, the ageing process is foregone, meaning that the bottles are ready to be shipped out and enjoyed much faster.

What are the benefits of Pet Nat wine?

Doom Juice Wine Pet Nat wine is a unique and interesting beverage because it’s made without using any sulphur. This in itself means that the wine is vegan-friendly. It also means that the wine doesn't require any aging, which gives it a refreshing, unique and surprisingly fruity flavour. The fermentation process also creates a slightly carbonated texture, which makes the wine more refreshing to drink.
